"Neo4j and Graphs in Finance" by Jim Webber
Abstract
Finance is awash with data, but much of it is discrete items locked up in silos waiting to be joined up to provide insights.
Graph data is different: it's joined by default and oozes domain-specific insight.
In this talk we'll discuss several graph use-cases which cover a broad range of common financial services, from insurance fraud through to entitlements, provenance and knowing who exactly your counterparty really is. To demonstrate the power of connected data, we'll explore use-cases using Neo4j's Cypher query language to showcase just how performant, pleasant and powerful graphs can be.
BioDr. Jim Webber is Chief Scientist with Neo Technology the company behind the popular open source graph database Neo4j, where he works on graph database server technology and writes open source software.
Jim is interested in using big graphs like the Web for building distributed systems, which led him to being a co-author on the book REST in Practice, having previously written Developing Enterprise Web Services - An Architect's Guide.
Jim is an active speaker, presenting regularly around the world.
