"The strain of Scrum and Specs" by Marion de Groot
Abstract
As a requirements analyst I often hear 'Oh we don't do specifications, we do Scrum!' Although fewer specs are needed in a true Scrum environment with an experienced team, this doesn't mean specs can be eliminated altogether. A new balance needs to be found. This presentation elaborates on this discussion and gives you hands-on tips for working with specifications in a Scrum environment.
Bio
Marion de Groot is an independent requirements analyst at Pick my Brain. After she graduated as an Industrial Design Engineer at the Delft University of Technology, she worked as an application designer and functional designer before taking the step to self-employment. She now specializes in software specifications, Scrum and international teams.
"Exploring Docker: the next step in virtualization" by Quinten Krijger
Abstract
With Docker you can easily create portable, self-sufficient containers from any application. Compared to established virtualization solutions, Docker is very lightweight and efficient. We believe it has a great future - it has been around less than a year now and already has amazing traction. I will give an introduction to this awesome emerging technology and show you just how cool and fast it is. After this, I expect you will want to start experimenting by quickly creating images yourself. Maybe for testing purposes, to setup your environment and avoid teardown. Maybe for deployment, knowing exactly how every environment in your DTAP behaves. Whatever you want to accomplish, the development to reach that goal will be fun using Docker!
Bio
Quinten Krijger is software developer at Trifork Amsterdam. He mostly works with Java and the Spring stack with fun stuff like Mongo, but also has a healthy interest in up-to-date front end programming, BDD and DevOps. In other words, he hasn’t yet managed to focus on a specific tier, and might not ever. A few months ago (a month after its conception) he took an interest in Docker and is currently using it at Rijksoverheid to run web tests in the continuous build.
